    PPC AWARDS ITS COLLABORATORS AND CHILDREN IN THE DRAWING AND PAINTING COMPETITION “THE MARITIME INDUSTRY AND THE CONSERVATION OF THE ENVIRONMENT”

    Hutchison Ports PPC successfully held its annual Drawing and Painting contest under the theme: “The Maritime Industry and Environmental Conservation” highlighting the participation of children and collaborators in 4 categories classified in ages between 5 and 17 years. Each one of the artistic expressions turned out to be a great example of creativity, color and impact of the drawing, selected in alliance with NGO professionals such as ANCON and the Olga Sinclair Foundation.

    With this initiative, PPC reaffirms its commitment to the Conservation of the Environment and aligns its efforts to work inside and outside the port facilities, on relevant issues such as family unity and teamwork, sending an educational message of quality and originality .

     


  • PPC CELEBRATES PORT WORKER DAY

    Hutchison Ports PPC celebrated Port Worker Day with a Grand BBQ, for all its employees at the Balboa and Cristobal terminals. During the activity, workers had the opportunity to spend time with their peers and leaders in a relaxed atmosphere.

     

    Through these initiatives, PPC keeps its commitment to strengthen internal ties that foster and integrate the participation of all employees with its goal of becoming the leading country in the port industry and optimizing Panama’s logistics development.

     


  • Hutchison Ports PPC Gives Scholarships to children of Employees

    Hutchison Ports PPC, within its CSR program that rewards educational excellence, held one more year, the scholarship program for  children of its employees, who have demonstrated the desire and willingness to study to achieve their goals and excel as professionals .

    The event was held on Saturday June 16 with the winners and their families in Rebounderz Hotel Sortis, where the CEO of Hutchison Ports PPC, Mr. Leonard Fung, exhorted and congratulated the more than 180 winners to continue with his excellent grades throughout the 2018 school year. Likewise, the opportunity was taken to make a special recognition to the moms and dads of the winners, who are the unconditional support of all of them.

    Hutchison Ports PPC for more than 20 years,  has been involved with the professional development of children who are part of the organization and are committed to promote these activities that achieve family and social strengthening and integration.

     


  • Hutchison Ports PPC Volunteers participate at Good Deeds Day

    Our great team of volunteers from the Cuadrilla Solidaria joined, one more year, the celebration of “Good Deeds Day”, organizing two activities for communities near our ports of Balboa and Cristobal.

    1. Colon: Donations, refurbishment and improvement of the parks at Ciudadela de Jesús y María. This shelter receives children from Colon at high social risk.
    2. Panama: Visited the facilities of the Olga Sinclair Foundation and in the company of the children of San Felipe (high social risk community), made art works and shared a picnic. This initiative promotes our aim of teaching children values such as teamwork, cooperation and integration.

    At Hutchison Ports PPC, we believe that education contributes to productive and equitable societies. As a socially responsible company, we are involved in initiatives that improve the quality of education and access to it.

     

     

     


  • PPC _x0093_Good Deeds Day_x0094_ 2018

    Hutchison Ports PPC, aware of its role as a Socially Responsible Company, values the importance of conservation for the community and the environment in which we live and operate, took part on April 15th in this year’s “Good Deeds Day” as part of its ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The “Good Deeds Day” is an annual tradition of good deeds. All over the world, hundreds of thousands choose to volunteer and help others, putting into practice the simple idea that every single person can do something good, be it large or small, to improve the lives of others and positively change the world.

     

    This year PPC’s “Good Deeds Day” initiative, “We can’t let the most beautiful thing in our industry die’, organized a beach clean-up activity to collect garbage that affects the health of wildlife, people and local economies near Port of Balboa and surrounding areas.  

     

    PPC, worked this activity with the community of La Boca, The National Police, Environmental Non Profit Organizations and the International Maritime University of Panama (UMIP).  More than 120 volunteers rallied together with the common goal of collecting and documenting the trash littering the coastline near the Port.  The joint effort gathered around 1.5 tons of trash, mainly composed of plastic bags and bottles, maritime related debris, straws, paper, aluminium cans, tires and glass.

     

    With CSR initiatives as “Good Deeds Day” Hutchison Ports PPC is proud to be committed to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a universal call of action in order to make our world a better place, end poverty, protect the planet, ensuring prosperity for all.

     

     

     


  • PPC and MEDUCA Inaugurate New Dining and Kitchen at the Porfirio Meléndez School, Colón.

    The National Government, through the Ministry of Education, invited PPC to participate in the “My School First” project, created to provide high quality education opportunities to Panamanian children.

    PPC had the honor to participate with the transformation and improvement of the kitchen and dining room of this important school, where more than 1400 children, many children or relatives of our employees, attend daily. Employees, who live in this beautiful city where we develop part of our operations – Puerto de Cristobal.

    This project consisted in the development of plans, remodeling of existing structure, construction of an additional area, general cleaning, electric work, plumbing works, equipment, among others.

    For PPC these initiatives are of valuable importance. Education is a fundamental part of our pillars of Corporate Social Responsibility. From education it is possible to transform a society more effectively, helping to minimize the growing inequality and favoring the personal and emotional growth of all its members. In the same way with this project, we reaffirm our commitment to align our initiatives with the Sustainable Development Goals established by the United Nations.

    In Hutchison Ports PPC we are committed to the people of Colon, always being the guarantor of this type of initiative, which fosters educational development, providing the opportunity to generate a positive impact for society and family integration.

     


  • Veranito PPC 2018.

    Hutchison Ports PPC, aware of the responsibility we have with the families of our employees and supporting  the education of theirchildren, we held our yearly event Veranito PPC.

    In this initiative, more than 150 children attended, and were able to participate in games, group challenges, enjoy nature and adventure sports. In each of the activities, the importance of values was emphasized, which as integral citizens we must keep in mind; the importance of teamwork, communication and leadership was reinforced; qualities that will serve them for their future tasks.

    The last day of the Veranito PPC, children were invited to visit the port and visit each of the areas where their parents work. PPC Volunteers team made presentations during the tour so that the children knew everything that is done in a port in terms of CSR, security, finances, environmental conservation, human resources, operations and much more. For the entire PPC team, it was really gratifying to see the children’s interest in learning more about the place where their parents work and the pride they showed.

    With initiatives like this, PPC reaffirms its commitment to promote activities that improve health and well-being of all our employees and their families.

     


  • Hutchison Ports PPC, received the delegation of government representatives and shipping companies from the city of Imabari, Japan

    Hutchison Ports PPC, received the delegation of government representatives and shipping companies from the city of Imabari, Japan, who revealed their interest in exchanging experiences and knowing the Panamanian port business.

     

    The representatives of the delegation, who visited the country in order to study the market and look for opportunities to settle in Panamanian territory, were received in PPC by Cristián Ulloa, Administrative and Finance Director; and Larry Yang, Operations Director. During the visit, they experienced the movement of the port operation of the Balboa terminal, considered to be the busiest in the country, turning the company into a port model for other countries in the region.

     

    The Vice Mayor of Imabari, Hiroshi Ochi, was able to demonstrate the significant progress of the company after the business model carried out by the port, with the investment in equipment and improvements of its services focused on the changes resulting from the efforts after the expansion of the Canal, as well as in the industry in general, as the different logistic technologies evolve.

     

    The success achieved by PPC in port operations has been the result of a high degree of labor excellence that the company has promoted since its inception in the country, which has not only positioned it as the number one company in the national industry, but that is supported, day by day, in achieving the goal of converting the Republic of Panama into an important international logistics center, PPC managers shared with international guests.

    Hutchison Ports PPC, one more year says present and gives its support to the Baseball League of Colón for the 2018 season.

    The main objective of the contribution is to support the activities of the league, for all its categories.

    “The support we provide year after year responds to a detailed analysis of all the activities carried out by the league, inculcating values such as civility and respect through sports, for the Panamanian youth who are the future of our country,” said Paul Wallace, Executive President of PPC. “For us, this is the most important thing.”

    For years, the Provincial League of Baseball of Colon, has reaffirmed its commitment to its province, its youth and the formation of new generations of athletes who are multipliers of values in their communities.

    This support reaffirms PPC’s commitment of sports as a vehicle for honesty and teamwork, essential pillars of PPC family.
